Reds and green’s exhale into January gray
for each breath, Christmas must now fight,
coughs up brown needles lodged in opulent disguise;
Colors blink across icy walks where only yesterday
rushed feet stopped to wish the forgotten peace and joy,
today “Happy New Year” is swallowed up
as if the last meal of a condemned man;
What has gone wrong,
when a storm marks our next holiday?
wished for by young and old alike,
I suppose to cover up the dark with white.

A great poem to make us reflect. The use of colors and nature blend so well that it makes one just stop and think.
