They can push me to the ground,
beat me half to dead.
Verbally destroy me,
leave me dying in my head.
They can make think of suicide,
and slitting all my veins.
Make me think of drowning,
all wrapped up in their chains.
They can take away my belongings,
ground me to my room.
Make me feel like dying,
like I’m living in a tomb.
But they cannot take away my ambition,
for it’s a gift from heaven.
And they cannot take away my future,
for I’ve worked to ensure its haven.
They cannot take away my love,
for it cannot be tampered.
They cannot take away my dreams,
for they need not be pampered.
I will my life,
They cannot kill me,
For I will survive.
