Benjamin,
How can I make it through
the holidays this year
as twinkling colored lights
increasingly appear
And the sounds of the season
scream louder in my ears
their meaning seems so warped
when perceived through endless tears
But the hardest part so far
is unpacking that old box
full of ornaments you kids made
and both your Christmas socks
I unwrap yours from tissue
as I take a shaky breath
the last time I seen your sock
was last year before your death
Plush red and fluffy white
"Ben" glittered on the toe
a red and sticky stain
from candy five years ago
The first time your sock was filled
you were only eight months old
binkies, books and bath tub toys
in colors bright and bold
As you and your sister grew
about Santa you learned the truth
but each year your socks were filled
keeping magic from your youth
The last time your sock was filled
with a CD by Nikki Six,
candy, razors, Fierce cologne
and Fender guitar picks.
This year your sock will be full
of my brokenhearted tears
as I hold the memories
of the last twenty two years.

Oh honey I so do understand how you feel. Christmas and the holidays are so very hard. We just went through the second one and I hate to say it but it wasn't any easier. All those childhood ornaments and his stocking. We hang his stocking anyway and I write him a card and plan to every year, so that someday I shall open and read them when I am old.
I know you miss your Benjamin and I certainly hope you are ok. I noticed you haven't been on for a while. I hope you have been taking the best care of yourself that you can.
Wishing You Nothing But Blessings
Much Love Always,
Kelle Marie
