As the Birthday Of The King
His name is Jesus Christ
So we let our voices sing
Ring out the news across the land
Jesus Christ was born this day
He is God's only son
He came to teach us His way
We start our celebration
With Church service at night
Then we celebrate His birth
We watch all the stars so bright
Dad gives the blessing for us all
As we gather around on Christmas Day
To sample all the Goodies set about
Mom has arranged them in a special way
Yes, this is a special time to be Joyeous
To be thankful for all that God gives
Rejoice, rejoice because Jesus Christ
Our Savior and Lord, still lives
Author notes
Christmas is always special to us. Even now when it is only myself and my son, we still celebrate Christmas. A tree and decorations, gifts, a special dinner. My son was hungry for Pasta, so that is what I cooked. We froze what was left. It was a quiet Christmas, but still beautiful. Christmas is Christmas and I don't let anything spoil this day of celebration of the Birthday of our King.

bravo
good work and well written, good luck in my contest. -
a really good write, and it is clear that you are still celebrating what some would call the 'true' meaning of christmas; not caught up by materialistic ideals but bound together by faith. I am not religious but i do admire and even possibly envy this piece - very nice.

Thank you MichaelBe so glad you enjoyed my poem. Do not be envious of anyone's writing. You can do as well or even surpass it. Just let yourself relax and look about you and enjoy the simple things in life.

Good for you Katie. I have celebrated Christmas every year, even when I was sad and depressed. There is indeed a magic about this holy day that makes life worth living to me.

Thank you daviscth. I can remember all the Christmas' past. We always had a house full of guests, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, and sometimes their relatives. All were always welcome at my parents home. When I was older and worked, I remember one year for New Years day my Mother sent enough food to where I worked for me and a couple of my co workers. Boy did they only enjoy the meal. Especially the home made noodles and home made bread, pies and cakes, etc. There were never any strangers, all were welcome and there was always plenty of food. My parents taught us not to turn any one away who was hungry or thristy. She always said you could be entertaining Angels unaware. We had a couple of outside faucets. When I was a kid we always had a homeless person stop by for a drink of water or a sandwich. I think they told one another which house they would be made welcome at.
