having wings trimmed
is a painful affair~
plucked, shaft by shiver,
a quiverful of fine feathers
rattles desperately.
she would fly,
but having been shorn,
cut to quick,
genetically manipulated,
makes for clay-weighed grounding.
her face will tilt,
eyes envy birds,
breath gather goodbyes,
ears alert for passersby’s,
mouth kiss to sky bliss,
skin sensitive as raw nerve,
gut-knowing ache of anchor.
having wings trimmed
is a painful affair!
