the ritual

She twirls around
robes flowing free
listening to the beat
of the sparrow
singing with the creek
she dances deosil
fabric catching the sun
she feels the warmth
and begins to hum
her ritual circle almost complete
she turns center to dance to the beat
drums raising
energy now
she calls the ancient spirits down
the thunder and the lightning as each one appears
she raises her hand
and salutes the years
with happiness
tears stream down her face
her feet pick up
to dance to the pace
the calls forth each corner and stone
some well versed
and others unknown
she raises her hands one last time
to yell out her wish
in voices divine
she lowers her hands and widdershins she goes
around the circle
sending each spirit home
she marches and breathes as the drums fade away
she closes the circle
and calls it a day.

I think it sounds like a day in my life. A ritual opened and closed and practiced in only the way I do when I am alone.

    Beautiful.
