Sacrificial Art

"i don't know what to do
and i don't know what to say
so i think i'll just sit here for a while and pray."

she's soft of body and soft of head
she wants a father
and she wants to be wed.

"i'll ride the pig if you ride the dog
i'll make my way north
on my fat spotted hog."

she lights a hundred candles
for a hundred prayers
not knowing he's full of folly,
rust, and scandals.

"i heard it through the grapevine
you wanted to come back
i'll give you my moon's blood, i'll give your steed a smack."

she has a thousand cattle
but only gives up one; but for her lechery
she throws onto the altar sword,
shield, and battle.

"i've told you once and i say it again:
i love you, that's that
if this is so wrong, why does it feel so right
when you shroud me in darkness,
in your beard of night.
when you give me but half
and i give all i have
to meet you eagerly,
gingerly,
salaciously when you give but naught
but a smile and a shrug,
a quiet reassurance, yet another heart's tug."

  he says to her:
'go my maiden.
go my love.
i can't meet you now. i'll meet you above.'

  he says to me:
'i love you naught
but i love you now.
i love you when winds blow
i love your spotted sow.
i love that your moon's blood
can't be back for a while.
i love you meet me foot for feet
foot for mile.
but crown you not now
i shall.'
