The cat’s eyes shining like stars in a pitch black night
His shining pelt gleaming in the ominous light
His nails as sharp as knifes
To take away creatures lives
His stance as still as the floating mist
His pounce is all in his wrist
His pride roaring like fire
People like him never tire
His destiny is to survive
To shred things that are live
His whiskers as thin as hair
He really is some thing to fear
Ps: this is for my cat Merlot

Awh, lol this was sweet.
You caught his sly, cat movements really well in the word you chose - although the poem did sound forced at times like making it rhyme was more important than anything else, however i enjoyed reading it!
thanks for entering

Cool cat name, Merlot
My brother has lots of cats and I've had a few. What you've written reminds me of stray cats behind us killing my pet squirrels, Pixie, Dixie and Trixie and their three babies. Now, I've seen cats from both sides as pet and as someone who lost pets to cats. Alas, it is true, there are two sides to everything.

Wow, this is amazing I love this.
It's very brilliant and I love cats too so much they're beautiful and fun to play with :]

Too Cool
This is very cool. I really love cats, too and my niece loves them, too. You should check out her homepage at magictears.
She is 10 and loves reading and writing stories and poems.
Blessings,
Doris
P.S. I am Jesse's Aunt, spiritual nature and I was checking her homepage for her and forgot I was still on her site and not mine. This is from spiritual nature.

I am a cat lover and so I appreciate any ode to a feline <3
However, I don't think this quite fits the contest as the rhyme is rather forced and we are moving more toward freeverse or traditional, sonnet-type poetry.
I love your cat's name... very unique. My little girl is named Venom

Well i like it very much because i am a cat lover. This describes not only the beautiful house cat but also the great wild cats which are really just overgrown kitties....lol!!!!!!! (wouldn't want to cuddle one though). Excellent write that tells us that this individual of nature knows who he is and where he is going. Wonderful. Good luck in the contest.

What color is Merlot? And how long have you had him?
I love cats too. I have seven of them. The oldest one is a white cat named Skye, and you know what? She has one blue eye, and one gold eye. Then my son's cat is named Storm. She is a gray tiger. Our vet gave her to us because someone threw her in the trash when she was just a few days old. We also have a cat named Sandy. She is a tourtoise shell that my son found at our bank. Our next cat is Thomas. He is gray and white. He got hit by a car a few months ago, and broke his pelvis, but he is all better now. Thomas has a sister who is black with whte paws. Her name is Mittens. She was really sick when she was a baby, so she is a really small cat. Then we have Tubby. My son named him that because he likes to get in the bathtub, but he is also a really big cat. He has gray and white fur that is really long. Then we have a kitten called Tux. He is gray and white too. He is not really ours, we are just taking care of him until his daddy gets out of the hospital. Lastly, we have a yellow kitten named Nacho. -
Wow! your cat sounds like quite a character.
Nicely done; thanks for sharing.
