Winter is my last name when I married,
wonderful gifts I share and have carried.
I can touch your heart melting the ice,
dancing with you celebrating the life.
As I look out at the frozen ocean with no wave,
to just trust I could skate and no cause to cave.
Showing joy by just swishing the snow beneath,
making those angels appear by imprint so deep.
Leading you to be washed whiter than the snow,
when underneath is the seed that was sowed.
The only color we see is the Rose still in bloom,
the blood He had sacrificed and laid in the tomb.
As I walk with you in this season,
even in bitter cold there is reason.
The seasons to enjoy have a mystery to each,
to reap, plant and sow, our heart can be reached.
Oh, the splendor of the trees with no leaves,
for glistening icicles to the branches they cleave.
I may have the name but I love the sounds of spring,
the melted snow must help the newness it brings.
For now as I stare down at the angels we made,
they make me feel warmth in the cold as an aide.
As the saying goes no snowflake is alike,
you and I were created by his love as it abides.

My last name is Winter, and it is only beautiiful when there is ice and snow. Otherwise all things look dead, no life, no leaves, no plants...but always Hope of renewal.

Oh this us the year for the nom de plume
to replace your real name, right. At least
until spring arrives with no need to mumble
your last name!!!!
A delightful tour of Winter, so personal!

That is so cute that your last name is winter. I agree about how awful looking it can be without the snow - they are getting their fill in upstate New York, I hear this year, though, despite global warming. I like it for a bit just around Christmas and am glad to see it go - not to have to deal with it. We had just that right amount this year in Germany and it was so pretty.
I like your mention of the natural beauty of the icicles, etc. mixed with some sacred elements like the rose in bloom and tomb.
