Leaving

My footsteps click across the floor,
The sound echoing through the empty house.
You should be here to see me leave,
But you're with her.

My bags are packed and waiting for me;
Their cries echoing through me.
Begging me to walk away,
Before you do anymore damage.

The shattered heart you’ve left me with,
Cries out from the pain it feels,
As it gingerly picks up the pieces,
And tries to glue itself back together.

The sounds of your passionate affair,
Are burned into my memory.
Forever haunting me
In the deep and lonely silence.

As I grab my bags to leave,
I stop hesitantly for a moment.
My entire body screaming for me to go.

I slowly walk away and close the door.
