My Ride

Raw power beneath me
Running into the wind
Spirit wild and never to be tamed
My borrowed freedom for every ride I take
The color of a golden sun
More beauty than than ever thought could be protained
The one i can always count on
Always ready to listen
Yet never able to tell
The keeper of all my secrets
And all my dreams
Everything I wish i could be
But never will
The best friend that will never turn her back
The one I can love without the risk of my heart breaking
Every move she makes, more graceful than I could ever dream of being
The speed and agility of a true athlete
Stronger than i ever will be
In her heart and her muscles

Amazing! There's nothing quite like the bond between horse and rider. As long as one loves his or her horse more than any blue ribbon, the horse and rider belong together. It's good to know that there are more people out there that love their horses as friends, not tools. Excellent and I hope you find the time to finish.

Here's a thought for the first few lines...

In the saddle on this raw unbridled steed
    running hard against the wind
our spirits intertwined - wild and still untamed
for every ride I take a sense of being free.

Think poetically, employ the use of rhythm and rhyme if possible. Line breaks are important (shorter lines are easier to read). I suggest you visit the following sites, malmadre, rbruce, Mairi Bheag and Dericlee.

    I hope this helps.

This has some literary merit, however, it needs editing and a structural redesign. The closing lines lead me to believe you're speaking about your horse but it's a bit unclear. Don't worry about losing interest - like the tide it ebbs and flows. Thanks again for reading my poem. Happy trails.
