I heard your cries in the dark
And felt your tears of pain
I reached out for you
As you called out my name

But my touch you did not feel
Your ears deaf to my voice
I tried to take away your pain
But it wasn't my choice

I tried to comfort you
Within the warmth of my arms
Put you only push me away
Though I mean you no harm

My heart breaks with each teardrop
That trails your precious cheek
But no matter how alone you feel
My love you do not seek

Though I am always there
Standing by your side
Never do you turn to me
And  I never know why

I give you strength when you need it
I give you courage when you doubt
I give you everything I know
You cannot live without

And all I ask in return
Was a moment of your time
A word or two in passing
To let me know I'm on your mind

And though I am the one you call for
When you can take no more
The threshold is as far as I go
You don't let me through the door

So here I am pleading
With each new pain you feel
Reach out & touch me
And know that I am real

Know that I am here
With never ending love
Waiting for my comfort & protection
To be more than enough

Because for you I gave everything
I smiled, I laughed, I cried
And for your sins I walked
The hill of Calvary & died.
