Love's Echo

Can you hear a soul breaking
 Like the snapping of a heart

Can you hear a unshed tear
And the pain it still imparts

Can you see a smile fading
In the shadows of the night

Can you see its light diminish
As it disappears from sight

Words are often quickly written
For the stories they must tell

And the sound of love now fading
Like an echo in life's dark well
