The light keeper

While I sit with closed eyes
some pictures come to me
from the other side
of the dark red curtains
of my imagination,
slowly crawling like butterflies
out of the tight cocoons
to spread their silky wings.
And there I see myself
dressed in white lace
with a book in hand.
Hair on shoulders
almost covers my lips
in silent prayer.
The book spoke to me
of eternal love.
Next to me a flaunting blaze
of candles trembles,
playing tricks with my eyes,
light tartish smell
of wax potpourri
feeds my wishful senses
feeding me happy tears.
I do not need to watch to know
how small silvery dishes
are decorated with white,
soft melting drops.
The artistry.
Reality mixes with dreams,
today with tomorrow.
I drowned in the beauty
of this very moment,
thinking of you,
and I, the light keeper,
light another candle
to hold this eternal miracle.

    Outstanding

I loved the ending both romantic and profound. I thought the imagery in this poem was well thought out and effective each thought well-expressed and building layers of meaning into the poem. Fantastic to read. Best of luck in the contest.

    My beloved Friend ...

if you can see the fleeting moment of beauty, Eternity is a constant shimmer within.

Thank you for the shower of your senses and your soul.

    "The artistry."

Indeed, dear Lady. I think you've surpassed the contest requirements with this one. It's beyond amazing...more like incredible, lovely, tender...well done, Poet. As Nicolette says, you're "writing towards the light". Good luck in the contest, my Friend.

Thank you so much dear friend. Not only for this comment. I only tried to write poetry with and about things so dear to my heart. Candle lights are one of them. It has a strange power to soothe my soul.
