As you lean against the wall
straight and narrow
light reflecting on your surface
I step before you
How dare you reflect what I detest?
I stare, eyes wide open
pinching, prodding, pulling
Look at this!!
You mock me by not saying a word
Framed in gold, you must think
you're pretty clever
making me sick everytime I see you
You have some sort of wicked
power over me and my emotions
But you never waiver, standing tall
Silent and sparkling
distorting what I hold most dear.

What a wonderful take on this prompt (although I certainly hope it's not about you).. Too many young people feel like this about their bodies and it's a shame..

Why can't we just accept ourselves for who we are?
Your poem really slams it home, we need to change how we feel not how we look.. Thanks, Hon.. Great job!

A most powerful piece, which I can relate well to. Nicely done. Thanks for entering my contest. It's a pleasure to read your work!

This is exactly how I feel every time I glance at my mirror.
This poem is so unique. I love how you personified the mirror, silent and mocking.
