Writing, dancing, drawing, singing!
Cooking, baking, collecting things!
Decorating cakes and cookies,
Painting pictures, many sorts.
Farming, taking care of animals,
Taking pictures, shooting videos.
There's a smorgesborg of ways
To say who you are
And how you feel.
Far more than just playing sports.
Just put your very heart to it.
Author notes
Children are capable of doing more than just playing sports or sitting in front of the television playing video games.

So true ~ to invest in the young is to invest in the future, not just the present, for they are the future and those who will shape the Earth in times to come. Too many are plonked in front of the tv, not communicated with or encouraged (or allowed in some cases) to go out and do things, for instance. I believe much in the encouragement and introduction of the Arts and creativity and self-expression for the young. It helps their development in so many ways.

I wish I had done more sports when I was young but maybe some kids become obsessed. As it is, I am rather obsessed with All-poetry. But I did do some of the things you mentioned. Good for kids to learn how to function!

I love doing ALL those things!
In fact I have done most of them just this morning...dancing, baking, painting and looking after Rexi, our cat who is about to have kittens any day now.
Happy St.Stephen's day! (I'm not sure if anyone celebrates this holiday outside Ireland but I hope you have a lovely day anyway!)
