Everything is riding on me
All his hopes and his dreams
He looks at me with blue eyes so trusting
Perfect vision yet so many thing he cannot see
I stand on the sidelines and watch his games
See him hold his head down in shame
As he misses the block and hits the ground
I smile at him so he knows I am still around
Off the field muddy and crying inside
I dont let him see a little piece of me just died
Out to eat and then home to clean up, then to the park
This blonde haired boy with all of my heart
He begs me please and I say yes
Cmon now little brother go and get dressed
Faded blue jeans and a torn up shirt
I took out the fourwheeler and we kick up dirt
Faster Faster and the pedal goes down
"Cmon Chelsea once more around"
Back and forth, dodge the trees
As he laughs letting go of me
I hate you he screams now, just a year later
They say, "no, you don't hate her"
he swears he does and I hide the tears
Losing him, my worst fear
I used to be his hero, the one who caught the balls
And I was the one he ran to, when he tripped and took a fall
Now I sit on this couch, knees to my chest
As he swears he wishes me the most painful death
It hurts so bad, coming from his young mouth
He doesnt know what he's talking about
But the day he looked at me ashamed
Was the day he told me to never come to another football game
Since then I havent set foot on a field
And that makes the memories I love less real
