Black Cherry Sky

exquisite creature

bound in blooded corsetry:

your crystalline heart

a vial of tears;

vanilla rain thunders

with every pulse,

& I long to steal the air

from the lungs

of all who harm you.

Peel back abscessed eyelids

to purge scarlet ink

from my own quill;

I am your winter,

magenta star scraping the ocean

for words to do you justice.

one day, we'll fall together

from the black-cherry sky,

and I will catch you,

even if my wings break beneath us.

you are never alone.

Author notes

For my dear, sweet Brie ♥

This girl means the world to me. We crossed paths one day in 2006, and we've been best friends ever since; she's been there for me through so much, and I can't even begin to describe how special she is. We'll meet face-to-face one day, sweetie; I promise ♥

    I can relate to this so well. It hurts deep, and it makes me feel as though the pain will never go away. And yet there is such brilliant, blinding hope

    You are a darling for having such a kind heart

    VERY exquisite!

    Oh the imagery! It takes my heart and grips it. I can almost smell the compassion! I also pick up a self-injury vibe, something about all the red, i may just be projecting though. And your use of simile, you used it so well. My particular favorite: Vanilla rain thunders...Its melancholie, its frightening, yet tastes so sweet on your psychic palate. You take the reader (i.e. me) by the heartstrings and don't let go to the end, and even still the grip lingers well after you've let go. Brava!

    A very warm and heartfelt write, giving hope and life to friendship with a strong tinge of defending the same forever.

    One small crit tho, the font could do with being a little larger, it is slighly difficult to grasp some words with the font style chosen.. other than that, it doesn't take away the brillinace of the write itself, so well done.

    Very well written and containing some vivid imagery. The tiny font used is my only quibble. Fine poem overall!

    That was so truly lovely poetess!
    WE ALL need to hear those words...
    especially with such doom and gloom
    all around us in the news, politics and
    economically.

    four words that have such a bold impact!
    "you are never alone"
