The Dream

Come with me as we go sailing.
Listen to this dream I will be telling.
Many floating boats as far as we could see.
I wondered as you ask, "What could they be?"
The boats are all different of sizes and shapes.
Some were brand new while others had scrapes.
There were john boats and bass boats and even a dingy
And a few couples were sitting in a blow up thingy.
Speed boats and paddle boats and some with a party barge,
There were small boats and medium and some were quite large.

Some people, though, were just swimming around,

Some with direction, others no where bound.

We looked at the scene at first with fright

But then you saw him and that gave us light.

You joined your man in the Love Boat ya'll made,

Two working together, a foundation was layed.

The Love Boats are built to the couples' spects

From luxurious liners to the hopeless wrecks.

They're for fishing and lounging and some for speed.

The couples will build them, whatever their need.

Some couples have a "temporary floatation device".

With one sharp word...the results aren't nice.

Some Love Boats could survive any storm.

Many sink at a small wave. It's becoming the norm.

Some boats are modest, floating very well.

Then they crash into other boats. All go down in a swell.

Some couples are bailing water, others drilling holes.

Some paddleing in circles for they have no goals.

Some speed boats did crash. Couldn't handle the power.

Boats are sinking everywhere, every minute, every hour.

The people are swimming in the ocean of unknown.

Some sink out of sight, others always alone.

About building ships, they read every note.

They never found that one to help build their boat.

The dream I've related brought clarity to fog.

We join and build Love Boats from large to a log.

Put your effort in your marriage. Give it all you've got.

So next time I see you, you'll be sailing a yacht.

Author notes

I was "just dreaming" about this thing called love. Makes me want to sing the song, "The Love Boat". oops...I heard about the show once. Way before my time.

This is amazing. I love it. I love what you have done with this poem. The only thing I have to say is that marriage needs to be fixed in the next to the last line. You were probably typing fast and missed the second "a". Thank you for entering my contest and good luck to you!
