In Memory of a True Fighter

Sprawled across the hospital bed
as frost coats the windows
thoughts are dancing in my head
as the day has come to close

heart is longing to be set free
to enjoy the cold outdoors
to share a cozy Christmas Eue
sharing cocoa and some smores

pitter pat of three sets of feet
coming down the hall
anxious chatter as they take a seat
waiting for their names to be called

Sarah got that golden chain
that hung on Mommy's neck
Bobby got his mothers antique train
and became a nervous wreck

thoughts are spinning between the two
as Josie held on tight
she knew that it was true
Mother lost the fight

Christmas Eve has been torn apart
Grandmas in their mommy's place
even though they shared the same heart
tears of sorrow struck their face

Beneath the tree Josie crawled
she's searching for her mother
ornaments have now been sprawled
and she curled up by her brother

every year you will see the three
making the same wish
to bring them peace and set them free
from the pain thats claimed their most precious gift...

their Mother

    You deserve it...

The holidays are always the hardest time to deal with the pain of a loved one sick or lost. Best of luck in your future writes.
