Christmas Reflections

Missing image

Perennial sounds of the season fill the air

Hustling, bustling, shoppers everywhere!

Midst all the noises, one looks for a relief

With folks seeming misdirected needing peace!

With all the busyness that Christmas brings

Fellowship with family to my heart sings!

Newly discovering to be a guest and not a host

Has cheered my heart maybe the most!

All the years of being a wife and Mom

I see reflected in my eyes with my son!

His  little lad  now to discover

This joyous season with Dad and Mother!

There are some gifts one cannot buy

A priceless gem folks can't deny

Love unconditional  shared, such a treasure!

Compares with nothing to be measured!

Reflecting now upon the Christ Child's birth,

His love came to change our earth.

Shining in our hearts His love can bring

True joy, peace from hearts we sing!

Oh yes, for moments of quiet, and of wonder

A falling snowfall brings time to ponder,

True beauty midst the winter's snow

Stillness, true love in Him to know!

Author notes

A Christmas enjoyed with deep reasons for thankfulness, special effects of a heavy snowfall makes it beautiful and demands a slow down of the pace...and the stillness brings an inner peace the world cannot give!(photo..credit of www.art.com)

This year I made gifts for my family. Collages of us, all of us... Tired of hoarding those photos in boxes where they remained unseen. I made a copy of the originals and gave away the prints. The originals will be framed an placed on walls here, copies on my children's walls. I loved creating these collages and they reveled in receiving them.

Family, unconditional love, laughter, food, festivities, fun all round back to FAMILY! Blessings!

Beautiful and sentimental. So much love here sister.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR! ♥

Christmas means misdirected shoppers and overcomsumerism, for sure! I'm glad that the rest of your poem focuses on the true meaning of Christmas, especially the point about a guest resonates with me. I love the photo, too; it looks like this part of Germany. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

This is an absolutely beautiful poem expressing the true joys of xmas and the wonders of the season. I love the way you wrote this, rhyme, rhythm and flow were great. I like the idea of two versus a piece rhyming...that sounds good and gives the piece a skipping feeling. Yep, nothing like the present of love to tide one over, is there. The best of luck in the contest. You did great.

Oh this is really good. I like the stress on the importance of family and christ. Excellent job. My favorite stanza was "There are some gifts one cannot buy A priceless gem folks can't deny Love unconditional shared, such a treasure!Compares with nothing to be measured!" Beautiful job and it was amazing!
