Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

Her eyes are azul
Her skin is fair
A Crysanthemum is pinned
In her raven hair

She's on her own
And no one knows
Why one with such beauty
Could be so alone

Her attire consists of
A blood red gown
And on a chain at her neck,
A silver circle hangs down

There's only one in the room
Who sees her come
He goes over to her
And she knows he's the one

He holds out his hand
To ask her for a dance
She smiles and nods
She's only here for this chance

He's surprised as he dances
With the woman in his arms
His desire to lead
Is silenced by her charm

Her eyes, so bright
Bewitch his mind
Her touch, so strong
Is still so kind

They're in a world
That's all their own
Surrounded by others
And they're still so alone

Swiftly now
He will fall in love
Such an oscurida angel
Such an oscurida dove

But she's past such feelings
This she knows
She must spare one kiss
Even so

She lifts his face to reach her lips
And gives to him her unsuspecting kiss
His eyes fall closed forevermore
And he's a servant in her abyss

For she is the Lady Death
En un vestido de escarlata
She controls the afterlife
Con el beso de la muerta

Author notes

For those that don't speak Spanish...
azul- blue
Oscurida- dark (fem.)
En un vestido del escarlata- In a scarlet dress
Con el beso de la muerta- With the kiss of death

Don't feel bad if you don't speak Spanish...I don't either. I had to look up A LOT of this when I wrote it in 9th grade for Spanish class. Most people cooked something for our Dia de los Muertos celebration but I ran out of time so I wrote this and made quite the elaborate performance of reading it before the class...they all hate ME...but I got some WICKED applause

for those that don't know their Dia de los Muertos facts...

*Day of the dead is NOT May 5th...so many people think that...its around Halloween and lasts three days and its FUN
*It is ONLY celebrated in Mexico....NOT in Spain or other Spanish countries...just Mexico.
*Death is seen as an old, weak woman...I changed that to make her appear young and beautiful..she still appears weak though. But they laugh at death (who they call la Muerta) and call her weak, ect.
*the chrysanthemum is seen an very symbolic of death (read interview with the vampire...you'll pick that up) but its the Marigold that is seen as most connected with death...both are used...I just chose Chrysanthemum
*silver circle...the Circle of life thing is VERY big on dia de los muertos...many Mexican families hang wreaths up because they are circular...if you don't know the circle of life thing then ask me...I'll be glad to explain
*red dress....La Muerta dresses in red to symbolize the blood
*The dance part, the storyline, the kiss...that's all mine

If I've left anything out or you have questions then ASK ME or TELL ME!!
