unaccountable: December 23, 2008

Green eyes
withdrawn
overdraft fees abound.

American taxpayers
JP Morgan Chase
chase me
chase us.

My American lover
more than dollar signs
I am afraid of you
putting a pound sign
over the exclamation mark of
my mouth.

Author notes

An experimental poem intertwining experiences in my current relationship with that of our current political situation in which bailout money given to banks is unaccountable. Current policy does not require that the banks disclose or keep track of billions of US taxpayer money. America is brilliant *sarcasm intended*

Criticism is appreciated.

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

An original vision of the financial chaos and greed of society, this poem is sarcasm at its most acidic level. The final stanza related to the pound sign is very clever indeed where financial values supersede what should be the most cherished value of all - love. Your picture on your comments to fellow poets is lovely. Best wishes to you. Tony

LOL...only you could take this current mess and make it poetic. You are a brave woman, and I just wish I had the nerve and talent to create something like this. The only thing I thought would be even more clever is if you took the 'Chase' from JP Morgan and just let the following 'chase me, chase us.' line kinda explain what you meant. But other than that, I was thrilled to read this...your endings...damn, I really do envy them.

Or as we would say in the military FUBAR! (Fucked up beyond all recognition). Yep, I agree.
