Postcard from Hawaii

Missing image
It's my habitude to hail in the holiday from my family's
home but this year, I think a hiatus in the sun will be
much more preferred over the sleet and snow.

Oh, to steal away from the gray haze and hubbub
of the city, to an emerald isle with warmth and beauty
just this once, I deserve it!

I can't wait to canter along the shore on horseback
with the sun on my back and the wind in my hair,
racing along unhindered having left worries behind.

Just to watch the waves tumble, and recede
back from whence they came, and find little
treasures nestled in the sand.

The idea was hatched by my handsome sweetie,
while we sipped herbal tea one dreary night last
month.

I called and told the folks, Happy holidays-
Enjoy the presents, I promise to send a postcard!
I have a hunch the whole family is jealous!

Post cards from heaven---or so it would seem.
A great respite to see in one's imagination
    from a snow-filled world!

Well, I know I am jealous...anywhere without snow would work for me, even the city dump as long as the city was warm.

I did go to Arizona for one Christmas, the less we talk about that time, the better! Sometimes snow is better than sun if the company is bad.

Oh you made me want to cry with all those beautiful scenes...and here I am, hiding inside a house where the snow is almost up to my windows...Oh, I hate winter!

    Thanks for entering!

    Definitely!!

You should go! I was there two years ago...It's wonderful, beautiful, and everything someone deserves at least once in their life! I envy you...we just had two feet of snow dumped on us yesterday. Nice write. Merry Christmas...enjoy!
