Used to Think Winter was of the Devil

I used to think Winter was of the Devil
But now I see the real truth and Beauty
Behind it all, that harshness and cold

Behind the bitter bone chilling weather
Behind the Death and suffocating hurt
Behind the black ice and snow banks...
Behind all of that I see the Magic of it.

The way the snow falls gracefully
Making it a peaceful placid place
The Stunning White Dust over
The ground and icicles on trees

The way the lights hit the ice
Reflecting the idea's of Love
Curling up to hot coco...
Spending time with family...

The Beauty of Winter is easy
Easy, to always see...
Through the harshness there is softness
There is always good through bad...

This is what Winter represents
Why Winter is Love and Joy
Not Hatred, Depression, Sad
Enjoy this magical time...

And think on all good
Forget all the bad...
Live like a Snow Person
Happy in this Wonderland.

Your words contrast the elements so well.
Tucked safely inside I can pretend to be
    a Snow Person!!!

You said it all, there's something about the snow and this season, that gives peace and comfort too all of us, making us feel happy somehow...It's the best

Your lovely poem of course makes perfect logic. Winter is beautiful when looked at objectively...all the things you mentioned are proof of that.

And I hope someday to live where it is warm so I can sit back and look at photographs and say to my butler or maid (why not dream big? ) is that winter scene beautiful.

But right now I have to work outside in the cold and shovel a 200 foot driveway, I still hate winter though I admit your are right.

Thanks for entering this heartwarming poem into my contest.

I love your spin on winter...it is such a beautiful season and really, such a peaceful time. I don't think people get outside enough to really enjoy its beauty. Thanks for the reminder
