The Cynic: Part III

A seed of death in an ocean of infinity,
plants the sadness for thousands of souls,
it's easy enough to say "It doesn't matter."
when you don't have the perception or compassion to see how it effects you.
Most of us really fit into this niche.
Who wants to sit around absorbing the hurts of even one small village,
much less the pains and abuses inflicted in our world?
We look at the after effects, and declare, "Oh, how sad. What a shame. Why didn't someone do something?"
Everyone was looking out for number one.
That's what we do in dire straights.
First fit your oxygen mask,
then look to see if your child is suffocating.

It's easy to say send some spare change, when spare change doesn't mean much to you.
What do you do though when someone really needs your help?
Don't you see this every day and walk away to escape to a space where it no longer effects you?

It's okay.
That's part of human nature,
to flee or fight in the face of danger.
Most of us pick our battles so carefully though,
we never face any challenges or learn anything of importance.
We are taught to be sheep by the lions.
They have grown ever more sophisticated,
and would prefer we remain ignorant.

The world respects intellectual Americans,
and assume the rest are mostly undeveloped larvae.
I am inclined to agree.
Would you like to make an excuse?
Do you dare to disagree?

Johnny Dep rocks. Johnny Dep loves you.
He's like Bob Dobbs, or Jesus...
