the common myth
-we're in the center-
between everything
and the air
its just a scarecrow
an inanimate object
another aspect of fools gold
spun into straw
right before your eyes
feeling twigs under the mattress
the princess and the 'pea'
concealing discomfort
with creature comforts
and we crack
something fragile
like the ice on the surface
of a small pool of water
breaking into fragments
under just the right amount of pressure
we freeze
burn
decay
and repeat

Okay, so I'd suggest you take a good look at the picture before reading this, then again, take a look at that picture after. Maybe read this twice. Its quite complex, abstract, but full of messages and not so hidden meanings. Hope this is the type of poetry that you want in your contest. Great Pic Prompt and contest idea!

Abstract indeed. But that is what I love in poetry. This kind of work is my 'Poetry Fetish', of you will. Anyway, it is an great write and truly worthy of being in the contest. Great job.
