He sees her
She sees him
He asks her out
She accepts on a whim
Not knowing the decision
Will soon turn grim
And this is where
Our story begins
He arrives
A little late
She's not bothered
At all by the wait
It just started
As a normal date
But by the end of the night
They left the state
Living their life by the second
They're just gonna wreck it
They have no idea what they are doin'
Relying on their love to make it
If theres a chance they'll take it
Don't care about the lives they'll ruin
It's the slips and the falls
The drunk midnight calls
In her eyes he can do no wrong
It's the birds and the bees
That bring her to her knees
Fourteen days still going strong
They try to start
Life anew
They tie the knot
They say "I do"
Some might say
They're way off cue
But to them
It's long-overdue
Living their life by the second
They're just gonna wreck it
They have no idea what they are doin'
Relying on their love to make it
If theres a chance they'll take it
Don't care about the lives they'll ruin
It's the slips and the falls
The drunk midnight calls
In her eyes he can do no wrong
It's the birds and the bees
That bring her to her knees
Fourteen months still going strong
Just one life to live
Just one love to give
In their minds they did alright
They're one mistake away
From a hefty fine to pay
But it been that way the entire time
Living their life by the second
They're just gonna wreck it
They have no idea what they are doin'
Relying on their love to make it
If theres a chance they'll take it
Don't care about the lives they'll ruin
It's the slips and the falls
The drunk midnight calls
In her eyes he can do no wrong
It's the birds and the bees
That bring her to her knees
Fourteen years still going strong
Author notes
This isn't a poem at all, it's more of a short story that rhymes. There's no hidden meaning to the words, no metaphors. This is the first one of its kind that I have done.
