In this world of sin and strife,
many troubles we do bear.
No respect for life,
yes, there's many who don't care.
Yet should I see my brother,
by the wayside where he lay.
Should I trust he there, the other,
or should I drive away.
Is he waiting there as a lion,
and I his innocent prey?
Could it be he's really dying?
It's really hard to say.
Dare I stop to render care,
or should I drive away?
I think it best I say a prayer,
knowing help is on the way.
many troubles we do bear.
No respect for life,
yes, there's many who don't care.
Yet should I see my brother,
by the wayside where he lay.
Should I trust he there, the other,
or should I drive away.
Is he waiting there as a lion,
and I his innocent prey?
Could it be he's really dying?
It's really hard to say.
Dare I stop to render care,
or should I drive away?
I think it best I say a prayer,
knowing help is on the way.
Author notes
It's really hard to say what I would do in that situation. People are so mean, perhaps that was their way of getting someone to stop so they could rob or kill them. It would depend on where it was and what was in the surrounding area. If it was an isolated area, on an isolated road, I'd probably just call 911.

I really like this because so many say "oh, I would stop" but in your poem you point out that you would use your faith and pray for help. I like how you show that the person is contemplating whether they should stop. Very well written!

It is really unfortunate that some would take advantage of the kindness and charity of others to furtherthier own pride or personal wealth.
I really liked how the poem is written. Although there is a spot where the flow seems off a little you did a good job. The rhyme is well done and there is nothing that absolutly breaks the natural flow of the poem.

well done!
