I am a woman you saw on the street,
I am the man you just had to beat,
I am that child left in the trash can to die,
I am the person who contemplates suicide.
I AM LIFE.
I am the soldier preparing to die,
I am the old man who will always be blind,
I am the child diagnosed with cancer,
I am the teenager who is looking for answers.
I AM PEACE.
I am the cutter, the burner, the knife,
I am the woman, who will never give birth to life,
I am the husband, who didn't stay true,
I am the thief, who robbed not one bank but two.
I AM TRUTH.
I am the woman, who battles with bulimia,
I am the man, who now has Leukemia,
I am the young girl with an eating disorder,
I am the young man, who couldn't wait for sex when I'm older.
I AM LIGHT.
I am the woman, who watches porn on the internet,
I am the man, who keeps promising but can't deliver yet,
I am the drug dealer living it high on the streets,
I am the wife that my husband beats.
I AM LOVE.
I AM the one, who died to set all of you free,
Just believe in ME,
You'll live through the pain and every storm,
You'll live with me, you'll be re-born.

Thank you. Yes, some parts are sad. But there is also hope at the end. Jesus is the light at the end of the tunnel. He is I AM.
The characters I note in this poem have lost hope. But Jesus can give them that and more.
