Oxen Plodder

Dear Ox was a plodder of that I am sure
as he was the first to get to the shore
'twas only the rat who jumped onto
his back, that gave him a chance and provided
a rack but then it is typical
of this great Oxen beast, perserverance
is one of the least of his
qualities, steadfast and forthgoing,
may all who read this be so
ever flowing, with the inner spirit
and fight that led the dear oxen to
use all his might ~

Maybe we could use a politcal figure like him, someone determined and steadfast.

Like your write and you provided some old legends I had never heard.

wow, I didn't know that about the rat but I can imagine him hitching a ride well thanks to your verse. I thought the ox did have perseverence but maybe you mean the rat there. An enjoyable little tale to kick off the new year with. Thank you very much and all the best in 2009!
