she was an angel, he told me,
i gave him a puzzled look,
he said, "here take this and see!"
golden blonde hair, and ocean blue eyes,
the smile of an angel he said,
and her laughter, oh what a grand prize.
she was easy to read like an open book,
if i told you her story son,
i bet she'd steal you heart, just like a crook.
the day i met her boy, it was love at first sight,
it does exist i tell ya'
and she was so beautiful, she made my heart light.
she loved to sing and dance its true,
like a fairy lite and feathery,
i could only sit and watch i didnt know what else to do.
when i asked her that binding question,
her smile could have lit a room,
but boy let me give you a suggestion.
when you do it, make it grand,
candle lit fancy table,
and of course the string band.
make it memorable kid,
i know you will,
i know it was long ago, but i sure did.
at a coffee house in a small college town,
with a poem and microphone,
man she was a queen, if only i had a crown.
i tell you boy she was an angel child,
golden blonde hair and ocean blue eyes
the way she spoke, it drove me wild.
and last but not least she had the most beautiful smile,
sun bright, and perfect too.
especialy that day, her daddy walked her down the isle.
son, please take it from me,
marry an angel,
its my best advice, you'll see.

I can actually see a grandfather sitting in a rocking chair on the font porch talking to his grandson.... Telling tales of his lost love... his wonderful love of his life.
A little sad because she is gone now...but knowing that soon they will be together again.
And yet, happy too because he knows that there love goes on within this little boy he is telling the story too.
A lovely write you have here. Thanks for sharing this with us and thanks for the walk down memory lane with this wonderful old man... who I only wish I had one of.
Thanks for entering this into my contest.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. -
