snowy day...

until the end of snow
life is like the day of a child
so many things to amaze
hungry birds come near and the air is white
winds make our skin feel more and more

until the end of snow
so many things seem possible
and life will go on this way
the sky shedding frozen drops
the trees swaying heavy limbed
and ground so soft when I fall and fall
even laughter seems to hang and float soft

[time wishes to stand still to move just enough
to turn white ground and muffle sound of day]
each Love...every friend of childhood returns to my side
and we smile and play in the oddly warm close air
in the chill of winds, by touchable moon
or cool disk sun; we are there again

until the end of snow

The imagery of this piece is really good. The movement of words swaying in an event, in a matter of day, in a matter of a moment - all wonderful.

There is a person here I can sense that. Isn't this a personal poem? In a way, I mean.

I just realize I miss a lot not reading much from my favorites.

    Thanks for sharing,

    HENSLEY

a good poem - ah the snow, you romanticise it here and that is good, everything seems to stop here in the uk when we get a single snowflake lol schools close trains stop running, people get trapped in cars etc i am glad spring is virtually here now. anyway rambling aside with snow, an enjoyable poem, soft and dare i say it snowy

this is wonderful with so many warm images to keep us in this poem and wanting to imagine that we are there. poems such as this are comforting to read and we are so able to close our eyes and picture all of the images so vividly.

    such a great poem, PK.

I like this, it captures the feeling, when snow is all around, of being in a suspension of time. I love the description of 'touchable moon' and 'cool disk sun' - these two are seen differently at these times.

The final line contains such regret, for the childhood friends who must then leave, and the time of enchantment that leaves with them.

Yes, dear poet...The snow seems to blanket us with lots of reflections, sentiments...It gives us moods we don't have during the rest of the year. How I love your images, and thoughts here....Yes our inner child remembers...igloos made with Dad, brothers and sister....and all you share...We can be spellbound with it all...Thanks for picking up where my thoughts have been lately! Beautiful!

14 inches here yesterday. Even with all the shoveling and snow-blowing, it is hard not to let's the feelings of one's inner child bring warmth to the heart (and it is hard to resist the temptation of snow angels!)

    Wonderful write!

Yes, it does make us feel like being a child again.
I love the feel of snow under shoes, the sound it makes when I step on it isn't like anything else.
Touchable moon and cold disk sun, those are lovely imageries in a snowy day.
Your poem shows a cold day and yet it makes me feel warm.

Speaks to me of staying young at heart, thats what I try to do everyday... enjoyed this write, was wondering, 2nd last line, did you mean "cool DISK sun" or should it be "dusk" ?

hey...thanks a lot for reading and your comment...yes..in winter where i live the sun seems distant like a flat disk at times...nothing like summer when it is not hard to imagine a star...an incredible ball of fire...thanks for all...PK

MUST the snow end????? Tell me its not so.

You have so beautifully captured the anticipation, the innocence, the vivacity of not just childhood, but that state of living that is IN SPITE OF circumstance. This was so tactile and visual...so appealing both in affect and message.

This is one of those dream-like poems, yet real. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

    Beautiful writing.
