She had her mother's blue eyes,
that sparkled like clear skies,
and pale-white skin
that glowed from somewhere within.
So tiny and small,
she never even got the chance to crawl.
So young and pure,
suffering is no longer her's to endure,
and in my heart she will always be
so very special to me,
Sweet Sweet Cassidy.
that sparkled like clear skies,
and pale-white skin
that glowed from somewhere within.
So tiny and small,
she never even got the chance to crawl.
So young and pure,
suffering is no longer her's to endure,
and in my heart she will always be
so very special to me,
Sweet Sweet Cassidy.
Author notes
My newborn niece passed away recently, and this poem is about her, i couldn't bring my self to write about it for a long time, but here it is. She was only a month and thirteen days old, and she had a rare viral infection in her heart. The title is part of the lyrics from the song she was named after, Cassidy by the Grateful Dead. Oh, and yes, I know, this poem needs A LOT of work.

This is so sad, but so sweet at the same time. I think it's a beautiful poem for your niece. Thanks for sharing!

That's a nice poem and I liked it. Start is great with her description so you know what a beauty we lost and then how small she was and at end we know that her loss is what we could never forget. Short and beautiful I liked it. Anyways Good Luck and Than for entring the contest
