Maybe there is nothing I can do
To take this blackened cloud from under you.
Maybe there is nothing I can say
To patch it up,
Plug it up,
To stop up this rainy day.
You sit there with your tears inside
But then out my eyes they pour,
Building lakes then oceans
While you watch from the shore.
When I was a girl I would go jumping through the puddles,
My wellies in bright red were always pristine,
But the mud gathered on the hem
Of pretty lace and petals
Rendering my appearance anything but clean.
I am not your tabula rasa,
I am not your canvas to paint,
To contaminate with powder poison
To show your quiet restraint.
Maybe there is nothing I can do
To pass this dirty stain right back to you.
Maybe there is nothing I can say
To stop you seeing black and white
And help fill in the greys.
Maybe I should be here to help you to repair
To patch you up,
Plug you up,
…But today I don’t really care.

say goodbye to bad relationships with both substances and the people who don't want to stop using them.
An Ex of mine was a drug addict. I know it isn't exactly what the contest asked for but this was what came out.

This is great. I love that you have clearly stated that you are saying goodbye to bad relationships and what they can bring about
Thank you for entering my contest and good luck
