To Resolutions End

Another New Year's resolution
Promised to myself
A not so simple convolution
Of mind upon a shelf

"I'll quit, I promise!", this time for sure
Said as I take a drag
"My intentions are quite pure!"
"This time it's in the bag!"

"I know I've said it all before"
"This time I swear,"
"I'll quit for sure!"
"I mean it right down to my core!"

True though my thoughts are once again
Another pack I buy
Another resolutions' end
Inside I can't but sigh

Maybe next year I will quit
That's it; I'll do it then!
Next year I promise I'll commit
To resolutions end!

I very much enjoyed everything about this poem the words flow beautifully as do the rhyme and rhythm and the background just finishes it off perfectly. Good luck in the contest this is a winner to me and I look forward to reading more of your work. God Bless, Jo-Ann

A very common New Years resolution and one that many have failed to keep. I like the poem, you did a good job writing it. Although there are a few things I would point out. The second stanza second line would probably flow a little better if you used the word "said" instead of "say". Also in the third stanza you changed the rhyme style which was slightly distracting. None of the stuff is to major and I hope you dont mind me critiquing your poem. Thank you for entering it in my contest.
