Bright lights and glittering cities
The world is an oyster
To be opened with the knives of the successful
That's what the careers master said
With his shiny suit and shiny smile
He has it all
And we can have what he has
He says
And we all feel so proud
And they all look so proud
And then someone shows teacher some fantastic achievement...
And I get home...and slip into miserable thoughts...
Torture myself, with thoughts of mediocrity
Of teenage angst, and its worthlessness
Of my achievements, and their rarity
Of my effort, and its scarcity
Of my own worth...
And the lack of it
