A Moon without face

Try to imagine
a moon without face,
when its pale light tries
to paint the earth.
Try to imagine a desert
without sand and stone,
a clear sky without stars,
dark heavy clouds without rain
and snow with no snowflakes.
Try to imagine flowers
without petals,
butterflies without wings,
rainbows with no colors,
birds that never sing,
seas without water
and rivers flowing way back to their springs.
It’s easy, you will say,
your imagination is great,
you can go this way.
Yet try to imagine me, I will say,
not loving you,
and you will always fail.

Please tell me what you think

I found myself following your every suggestion and it WAS easy enough until the concept of love sprang into view... where there isn't a soul alive who CAN imagine another person's definition of the grandest illusion of all. Since the beginning of time we have tried to pin it down, to feel it in the same way as another... yet we cannot define exactly what it is and what makes it so illusive... these endless imaginings make this the perfect love poem...

You write these puzzles beautifully, where do these ideas come from? These instances are all contrary to nature as we know it, and so your argument that not loving is also impossible follows directly. I like the imagery and the soft sentiment is lovely. Best wishes always.

some things are easy, thus possible. some are difficult, yet not impossible. imagination is the tool of wonders, and wielded in the right hands, like yours, it becomes the tool of creation. and yet – the power of love is never at the mercy of neither scientist nor artist, it can only be approximated yet never measured or imagined. and the only way to give it value on a scale of one to whatever, is to tell it in the negative language that you have chosen here. beautiful rendition, beautful and surprising ending, beautiful poetry.
