I'm so glad,
Strange to say, but I'm glad.
I'm glad for leaving our baggage in a ditch on the roadside,
I'm glad for choosing the fork in the road that leads
Away from the circle we've traversed for months;
For the new fuel, and the new sense of purpose -
I am glad,
I'm Glad.
Now I don't know what to do,
(I should know what to do),
But this fork has brought me to a highway
Open, wide, dusty, and with far too many options
That I was deprived of for far too long.
So I don't know where to go,
Know if someone will send a chariot to swing low;
Know who to befriend,
Know how I should reach my destination
(If indeed I have one),
I don't know what to do.
But I'm so tired -
Yes I am tired,
Made weary by dragging that now forsaken baggage
Down our potholed and broken road.
You've exhausted me with misdirections,
Detours and false starts;
And all the time you knew.
I'm tired of weeping,
Tired of mourning,
Tired of groaning for you.
Strange to say, but I'm glad.
I'm glad for leaving our baggage in a ditch on the roadside,
I'm glad for choosing the fork in the road that leads
Away from the circle we've traversed for months;
For the new fuel, and the new sense of purpose -
I am glad,
I'm Glad.
Now I don't know what to do,
(I should know what to do),
But this fork has brought me to a highway
Open, wide, dusty, and with far too many options
That I was deprived of for far too long.
So I don't know where to go,
Know if someone will send a chariot to swing low;
Know who to befriend,
Know how I should reach my destination
(If indeed I have one),
I don't know what to do.
But I'm so tired -
Yes I am tired,
Made weary by dragging that now forsaken baggage
Down our potholed and broken road.
You've exhausted me with misdirections,
Detours and false starts;
And all the time you knew.
I'm tired of weeping,
Tired of mourning,
Tired of groaning for you.
Author notes
Inspired by the quote
"I'm so glad, and I am glad, I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad.
I don't know what to do, know what to do, I don't know what to do
Tired of weeping, tired of mourning, I'm tired of groaning for you."

nice, I like the quote, and the poem you wrote from it

You have created a brilliant poem based on the quote you chose. I love the way you've used the entire quote, but have interspersed it among your own work. It's a very, very clever poem, with a good flow.
I love the form you've used, it's brilliantly set out, and punctuated, with a great use of bracketed clauses.
I like this a lot.
Thank you for entering my contest.
