Playtime

I could write
for England
about playtime.

Ofsted prescribes
but childen do not.

Let us rewind.

Show me your trainset
look at my dolls house
be guileless please.

Do not ask
after my bodily functions;
for there is more.

Much more than that.

let's play first.

    EXCELLENT

    'What has been the best time in my life' I was once asked this question by my colleagues at my workplace. My prompt reply was 'the time I spent on the playground'. This beautiful poem reminds me of my childhood when time was light and life was fun and all play time. This also reminds me of the famous poem of Blake. Your poem is so sweet and evocative - enjoyed enormously.

      Thanks Karabi. Have been spending too much time on Myspace and am shocked at the way total strangers address me. Allpoetry is a much nicer environment!! x Chills

        Respecting others' feelings is one of the constituents of good manners. Here there is plenty of it, provided you meet the right people.

    Yes, play is so very important. You've played well here - the train set and the doll's house - I hadn't thought of them as metaphors for sexuality before! Well done.
