I've seen you smile when she passes.
Your words can't hide the tint
That paints your cheeks and so surpasses
My compact blush. Oh hush. Oh hush.
I tell myself to let it be.
I tell myself I did not see
You clandestine
And drinking wine
With she who makes the cakes and candy...
I'll just pretend that life is dandy
While she taunts you with a mint!
I'll just pretend that I've been dreaming
When you return to me;
My wish confirmed, your clothing seeming
Untouched far as I see...
No flour on your shirt of black,
No chocolate hand prints on your back
Or even smell.
It all looks well.
Until...
I kiss your lips to taste the tell tale hint
Of lustful wine and sinful chocolate mint!

This is wonderful. I am a lover of rhyme, and you told this while rhyming perfectly. I also know that knot of anger and betrayal that forms as you realize you're smelling the lustful wine and chocolate mint.

Ouch! That reminds me of my first husband! I wish I was one of those women who has a built-in bullshit detector!

"My compact blush. Oh hush. Oh hush"
I loved this line. You are an amazing poet.

Yeah...this must be how it is if you think you're been cheated....

You wrote it down so painfully true...
I do hope it's just a made up poem and not for real
