Arrival

We come in at night
When the world is still sleeping
We arrive

Our home away from it all
The place where we will spend
Seven days, one week, a lifetime

I barely open my eyes
While he unpacks our belonging
He tells me to sleep, he'll take care of it

I crawl up in bed
Completely exhausted from the trip
And though excited, I sleep

And I dream of what will be

Author notes

Written about the first night spent on vacation with my friends in the Adirondacks. I slept so well that night.
