you tell me i should go on
but never answer why;
you tell me i've got it wrong
but never specify;
you tell me i'm irrational
for reasons left unnamed;
you say, "it's not intentional"
but you judge me just the same.
you call me a contrarian
when you cannot fit me in;
you tell me who i ought to be
disregarding who i am;
you say my words are only lies
meant to get under your skin;
while you sell a world of greed and pride
where conscience is a sin.
i've got a lot to say right now
but it's nothing you could hear;
you tell me that you're listening
with your fees, and your deaf ears;
but it's not important, anyhow
time will make the concept clear;
your conscious threats and thorny crowns
only underscore my tears.
you tell me i should go on
but not as the girl i am;
you tell me i should grow up
play along, dance on command;
you tell me i'm irrational
i say better dead than damned;
you say, "it's not intentional"
half excuse, half reprimand.
is it awesome, or what?

Wow. This is brilliant.
Excellent use of rhyme to create the pace of the piece. It took my breath away.
So many people judge, and don't listen when we finally try to speak.
Great work
