    Hi Aesthete

Aha, haiku! Well done. I am struggling to write one here. Merry Christmas.

Stop struggling, Lee, and just let the words flow!
You have had souch wonderful from-the-heart pieces here,
as well as your wondrous descriptions, the gardens, etc.

      Merry Christmas to you, also!

And a Merry Starlight Christmas to you and yours!
As for the LEDs, beats candles! (Also, I heard the due to teenage looters stealing baby Jesuses, the are now loading the little one with tracking devices!!! Exactly what is that message???)

Ah, PJ, so fitting with the then and now theme,
      tracking devices in baby Jesus!!!
The epitome of then and now
      united for the greater good!

Cheery Christmas wishes to you, PJ!

No matter how many evolutions we have, the spirit of Christmas will always be in everyone's heart.... be it traditional or unconventional/modern style of expressing Christmas...

"MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL!"

Clever work my friend. I have yet to try the haiku form seriously. Maybe in 2009!

The 50-year old creche with new LED lights is a particularly moving image. It takes a poet to notice those things and point out the deep meaning in them. And you, Aesthete, are a poet!

Ah, rocky! So good to see you powered up again!
Camping out in a cold house, certainly not fun,
      and NO internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a wonder that old pieces, handmade work
can be enhanced by contemporary soft lights.

When I was writing Quest I kept imagining
the gas lamps, no handy switch at the door!

I bet everything seems like a luxury to you now
after no lights, no everythiing electrical!

Ah the evolution...sometimes technology takes away that magical touch of many things.
I still like sending cards, real cards, by snail mail. I usually send them late, but still do
You show the differences very well...

I didn't look to see the authors of the entries, neither looked at my fav list today. But easy to see it yours MC
    Thank you

Christmas is the greatest reminder of tradition,
of handcrafting, whether in decorating the house,
      the cookies, the packages!

Yes, Mariza, if I write, I draw! Had been painting for so many
years that I had become intimidated by the drawing pen!
In the nativity scene I didn't do Joseph justce, seemed
a bit short! So I just reduced the drawing so that it seemed
      he faded into the shadows!

Yep, we're both old enough to remember our humble analog upbringing...a spreadsheet was a big bulky book not a slick excel sheet, a rolodex served for addresses and actual mail, not email was sent, and we didn't have lol, we just put, ha ha.

I guess the key to the future is incorporating the past...thus the relevance of your A2000ku.

I like my computer...I don't want to go back to paper and pencils...actually I still write stories and stuff with pen and paper sometimes.

How true! Cable was actng strange tonight and has been for several weeks. When it went out completely, and before I called I raced (hah!) down the hall to the studio to see if the lights were blinking in the right manner on the
internet connection box! Heck with the TV, I want
my internet!!!!!!!!!! But the other side of me needs my pens and pencils to draw and play!

Progress is great for other things too...the microwave is a Yemish delight and instant foods like rice and potatoes...perfect for a fellow who "wants it all and wants it now!"

When my cable goes, so does the phone and internet. So it's like this massive attack on my senses when it happens, "What? I have to read a book...how do you open one?"

I was surrounded by a week's mail, but the QUIET!

Found out they had been doing some box updating
since the first of the month. Seems they have caused
a freezing of the pic----mouths open, characters caught
in time. The first time it happened, Seven Days on SPIKE,
2:00 a,m, Mr Parker, then Olga started talking to Ramsey
with helium, chipmunk vioices. At first I thought it was part
of the plot, making Ramsey crazy!!!

I never make it to the books lately, exhausted after my two feet
          of mail each week!

The blending of the old with the new...not foresaking one for the other but allowing the new or current to compliment the treasured past. Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?

We've been watching home movies of Christmas past from when my girls were just tots. Sweet memories and looking forward to making many more.

From home movies to home videos,
pix to review instantly, to cellphone cam,
and all the assorted hand held toys
that now we cannot live without!
      How quickly new technology wins
      our hearts!

But then at Christmas time, the cookie dough,
the rolling pin, angel cutters, frosting, sprinkles, et al.
Now I frost with a fan brush and apply details
wuth a liner brush. After all these years of
painting clay, those are my tools of everyday.

every Christmas I remember the fun and joy of the lists and the changes from year to year, now that the kids are grown I so miss the lists.
my son used to cut out a picture for each item to make sure I knew what it was exactly.
Thanks for bringing back delightful memories.
    and your art is stunning
    so very creative
    God bless you my friend...

Ah, but the lists go on! Now sent thru email to help find the right things.
      And, of course, found online.

I was looking at the walls of the hallway---pix from pre-school thru weddings,
then the grandkids. Then snapshots taped on the front of older framed pix,
generations growing. Both sides full! but now with cell phone and digital camera
there are more new ones in the computer than printed and placed in the album,
or squeezed in wherever there still is a place on the wall!

      Thank you for sharing, Kathy!
