A letter

Dear Lord,
I know I've gone my way,
i wandered in torment and fear,
i never wanted to leave your side,
i always wanted you near.
But earthly flesh can be so weak,
i forget you understand,
and so i run, in fear and shame,
as my blackened soul demands.
but my life, my soul, is hid with you,
how can i now depart?
when each piece of me,
what makes me be,
is in your fathers heart.
i love and yet i turn away,
for all the things i do,
that become my restricting chains,
are holding me from you.
my heart, it bleeds from what i've done,
in sorrow now i dwell,
afraid into your arms to run,
my own personal hell!
but wait, you said you'd love me,
no matter what i've done,
and in your blood you washed me,
to shine brighter than the sun,
and in your arms you held me,
called me your well loved child.
does that not mean you love me still,
though my soul i have defiled?

so i won listen anymore,
to voices deep within,
that tell me theres no hope ahead,
that tell me to give in.
and when they say i've strayed to far,
for you to bring me home,
i'll close my eyes, and run to you,
and i'll never be alone.
to fight my demons,
side by side,
with my king, my love, my all...
i pledge my life, my day by day,
to listen to your call.
this day i give my solemn vow,
that in the days ahead,
i will find myself,
in you alone,
that i only in thee dwell
