The Voice in side my head

Missing image

So many years spent
trying to please,
sure that I was probably wrong.

Always though,
there had been a streak,
a voice that whispered seductively.

You can do it, you know you can.
Follow your dreams, live them.....
What are you waiting for?

To grow old, never knowing freedom?
Following the rules, toeing the line.
The moment came.

I knew it would.
It had to come.
The voice had been so strong.

The Doctors said, settle your affairs.
In other words your dead. A transplant is your only hope...................

My voice no longer silent,spoke.
NO!!!!!
I will not go. I will live in spite of you.

And so it goes.
I walk my own path,
I am not afraid to live, less afraid to die.

A spirit free  to choose.
Risk everything.
It's not so much to loose.

And free to love finally

a spirit

just as wild as me

The last stanza of this poem packs a real punch, and knocks the wind out of the reader with its power. I love how you've captured the archetype of women (or the type some would like our gender to be) with the line "toeing the line" and being imprisoned. And then the utter freedom and natural spirit within the speaker at the end....very well done

    I knew it would.
    It had to come.
The voice had been so strong.

That voice has been howling inside the night for many many eons. We choode when to hear it, and how to respond. Strength isn't something we're known for, after all, we are women. We're supposed to be demure, weak, and fuddle-headed.
    No.
    Not me.
    Not you either.
My sister, howl like nobody's listening. . .because it's only then we hear it in our own ears.
I love this, your amazing light shines brightly.
    I wish you the best.
    Love,
    jin

    Divine!

So much spirit in this write, it makes me breath deep and exhale long...I finished with a smile of triumph on my face and a deep feeling of satisfation. my favorite part is the last three verses... "and so it goes... and ends with "just as wild as me" . I just LOVE this!
