One Hundred Years

Forever at the outset, miles and miles of unpaved road;
Endeavor with the ones we've met to carry all our load,
One hundred years, while some with fears, some with jubilee;
some with tears that beg for beers, some lost humanity.

Baby steps begin the march toward where it is we go;
From bassinet to heaven's arch of welcome we would know.
So many drift through life and time and leave no calling card;
perhaps they've found the life sublime, the way life isn't hard.

Many leave a legacy of power, built in stone,
many speak of love I see, but still they are alone.
Embracing all the way we're found around this earthen ball;
chasing dreams to which we're bound, to stand, perhaps to fall.

For all these things, the song one sings is simply their own tune,
Anthems of angelic wings spelled in some ancient rune.
One hundred years or more ago somebody filled a page;
declaring something they would show, perhaps of love or rage.

And in these earthen vessels all, contained beneath the sky
The yearnings of these writings call, and few will wonder why;
Yearnings require earnings while we learn to walk upright,
turning, does the burning of desire shed it's light?

For joy fulfill the yearnings that you hold inside your heart;
employ all of the earnings that you hold to make that start,
for life will only grant the strong one hundred years to live;
in life, be it so short, or long, there is no method I can give.

Baby steps begin the march by which we see life every day
until the steps to heavens doors come meet us on our way;
May heaven hide those doors a while, until we learn to fly,
and grant you heavens greatest smile, as you discover why.

Author notes

Welcome, and goodbye greet all who breathe. And all who breathe are driven to some unknown destiny. Fate and fortune have little to do with us, they just take the blame or credit. Best wishes, God bless, live well and discover.
