That day the clouds said New Beginnings 2008

It counted down to the last weeks when you decided,
marching with classmates was better than to hide.
Always been reserved and private staying true to yourself,
I could see you striving and pursueing to achieve wealth.
At the cusp of the meaning of numbers in this year,
new beginnings would form if with Him you draw near.
What a storm was traveling quickly overhead of parents,
of family and friends that would see a meaningful commencement.
Once you were about to enter gifted classes but you humbled,
I admire your private thoughts and you never grumbled.
You see the world with rose colored glasses and sometimes black and white,
I am honored that you are gracing me with your walk tonight.
You said it is just paper and I don't want to be in all this hype,
but just maybe you said I didn't want to look back and regret and gripe.
For you did achieve just getting on through in boring classes you said,
very logical and to the point I know you will always succeed and get ahead.
As the rain saturated the parents, I wanted to dance for it was a sign,
How I persisted for you to it anyhow, the only thing on my mind,
They were delaying it with thoughts of going about it another day,
but all of you inside said we come this far, so what ,we walk in the rain.
As if God heard such inner faith of those words the clouds moved on,
Now my tears fell as I seen you all line up and Pompenstance begun.
I  have my picture after all of you in that cap and gown smiling,
my dear second born and son, seeing you was all so tantilizing.
You see overhead as you all were formed on the bleachers in red and grey,
the clouds formed this butterfly for two thousand eight is a new day,
What I taught you about His goodness and how he lets you know of grace,
Today nothing stopped you, the course finished, you ran your race.
I still say thank you Lord for this Logical, think before he acts young man,
for he teaches himself quite a bit of different things...he knows he can.

Author notes

My second born...is a good young man, reserved and respectable, he wanted to just receive his diploma and not march, not socialable like his sister, wise beyond his years actually, and that night it downpoured, but the kids did say they came to far to give up to another night, I admired that immensely...a message there and after they were all seated the clouds formed a butterfly...the icon on New Beginnings and the #8 spiritually means that as well...be blessed again...I loved sharing.

I loved 'Pompenstance'- hit me from behind on that! What a lovely story and he sounds like a good young man!
If I may; some folks don't like this - you don't need the 'e' in 'pursuing', babe! Don't shoot me, I have a family! LYMI, Gresham
