I stand alone
In a complex construct
Four simple questions
intent to instruct
Why do I fight?
For whom do I serve?
What do I believe?
What will I preserve?
The answers are sad
Though truth be so cold
In honesty I am tainted
By a skeletons hold
I have done bad things
To myself and to you
that if given the chance
I would never undo
In this chasm of time
We have all seemed to find
Everything we all knew
to be true in our mind
This construct im in
It already knows
So why do I lie as
The fear inside grows
Afraid to be judged
No lesser a sin
But the fear is not fading
once the world is within
So to solve all our problems
My constructs demand
Is a little forgiveness
from you, fellow man
Thats all I need do
so simple it seems
But does becoming so perfect
mean ignoring the screams?
Author notes
Poem Prompt No.20 is:
"To the heart of the world
This construct sees
At last with feeling
I have become sadness” – taken from ‘Becoming’
(This was inspired by a friend who went to war and came back with a skeleton. Thank you all for reading.)

Very unusual take on the prompt, though it tells a very intriguing tale, which is well told with great use of language, whilst remaining concise within each stanza, which is not easy to do.
Good write.
