that sugarsweet voice that
i remember is gone, and
with it your ability to charm
droplets of resistance from
the melody of my distress
you say that the fault is mine -
that i didn't appreciate
anything you never did
and i smiled at your mistake
realising it for what it was,
a symptom of a disease greater
than you, me, or the imaginary
relationship we clung to
so desperately
the light of realisation clicked
on, i screwed my eyes shut, and
performed the surgery needed to
remove you from my identity
i am no doctor,
and my lack of precision
has ensured scar tissue
but my hands are young, and
i'll harness vaguely remembered
agility in my attempt to
weave a new life, outside you

nice!
Really really nice! Especially using someone else's words.
Keep playing with words.

..WOW Definitely a great take on the prompt. I should have more of these contests more often... hmm anywho - the play on words is great. This is such a great poem. -happy noises- I'm so impressed. the descriptions are fabulous and clever. I really don't have much to say except the lack of capitalization actually works here.. super creative and awesome- absolutely loved it-
good luck
